Does The Cabbage Soup Diet Really Work?




If you have been on your weight loss quest for a while now, chances are you have heard about the Cabbage Soup Diet. This diet is one of those radical diets, it promises " the more you eat the more you lose weight ", but the consumption of food is, as you may have assumed, limited to just cabbage soup. To dive more specifically into their claims, the cabbage soup diet promises a weight loss of 7-10 lbs on average.

As you all know I refuse to sugar coat anything, so this is my take. Personally, I think this is a severely overestimated claim. Why is this diet so popular? Because it claims to let you eat until you bust the seams of your clothing and it claims to be an automatic fat burning machine. Assuming we all know the science behind losing weight, "burn more calories than you eat". Why would any person in their right mind use this diet as a weight loss strategy? Dieters that have been on the Cabbage Diet have reported being dangerously gassy, although some claim weight loss, others sing a completely different song.

Does The Cabbage Soup Diet Work?

Yes and No, If you are trying to lose weight that is simply water weight. Sure, take a stab at it. You will lose tons of water weight on the Cabbage Soup Diet. However, if your weight loss goal is to lose fat, then no, this diet is not for you. Doctors are against it, I am against it, so this means you should stay far far away from the Cabbage Soup Diet. This diet is counter productive, since it will be difficult for you to consume a near normal amount of calories on the Cabbage Soup Diet. Your metabolism will slow, causing the progressing weight loss ( if progressing at all) to slow down. I have tasted the soup ( A friend of mine was on the diet), and it is far from 5 star worthy... more like a 2 star at most.

Phase 2 of the South Beach Diet





Commencing Phase 2 of the South Beach Diet

If the South Beach diet still hasn't managed to make you go haywire due to missing your french fries and becoming accustom to odd diet food, kudos to you. Weight loss is a very long and unpleasant journey and you have managed to get through this diet period successfully ( with a few cheats in between of course). Okay enough rambling and lets get to the juicy information. Cause after all that is why you are here isn't it?

You will not see such an incredible amount of weight loss while on phase 2 of the South Beach diet, although you will still be able to lose weight the number on the scale will quickly start to sit around a specific set of numbers. Expect to lose 1 to 2 lbs a week on average although if you cut a few more calories and exercise a bit more than you usually would (if you do at all) that evil three digit number on your scale will begin to make you smile a bit more each time you step on. Do not weigh yourself more than once a day because it will drive you insane and you will eat comfort food because you are under the impression that the south beach diet is not doing much for your weight loss at all, well it is so take a breather and put down the cheesecake! Geez ....

Can You Lose Weight on the South Beach Diet ?




For the past couple of years the South Beach diet has been causing quite a stir in the diet world. Weight loss has long been a sizzling hot topic in Hollywood celebrities are scrutinized and dissected and when the tabloids find little thing wrong with a woman’s body she gets penalized for being human. Since when is a woman having curves considered a bad thing? Personally I think The Kardashian sisters all have amazing curvy bodies and that specific body type should be the ideal that we all strive for, which is healthy, but I digress… Celebrities and their avid team of followers have been successfully losing weight on the south beach diet. What makes the South Beach diet different from other weight loss systems is that while on this diet you are encouraged to eat foods that contain carbohydrates and fat. What!? Yes I too was skeptical when I first heard the concept “eating fat and carbohydrates can lead to weight loss”, but the catch is you are encouraged to eat foods that contain “healthy” carbohydrates and fats. ( Not sit in a local McDonalds slinging Cheese burgers down your throat!)

How Does The South Beach Diet Work During Phase 1 ?

The South Beach Diet as stated above is based on the concept stated above. Eating a consistent amount of healthy carbohydrates and fats in your diet daily will lead to weight loss. The South Beach Diet is divided into three phases during phase one the claims are that there will be an average of 8- 12 lbs weight loss. The dieters eat a healthy amount of protein, fish and vegetables. Some say if you lose weight at such a fast paced you will eventually gain back all of the weight you rid yourself from during the weight loss process. Well I know you are wondering, does this diet really help you lose weight? The answer is yes! Phase 1 of the South beach diet has re-instilled their faith in healthy weight loss methods.
